Lexi and The Magnolia Bakery

After an extremely long wait on standby, mom and I finally got to NYC. (We later learned that our original flight, scheduled for a layover in Canton, OH, had technical problems and didn't even get out of Canton that day! I guess I should've thanked my lucky stars for that long wait on standby!)

We met Lexi at K-Mart (It's kind of the best meeting place in the East Village.). I'm dubbing this the first official 2005 NY Trip picture.

Doesn't Lexi look great?!

What did we do our first night in the city? Went to The Magnolia Bakery, of course! I posted about this earlier, if you remember. Lexi took some clever pictures of the place. They're so good; they look like they were taken by like, some graduate art student studying computer art at the School of Visual Arts. . .

The first two pics were taken from outside. The thing to remember about this bakery is that it's SO good, people wait in a long line that wraps around the corner of the building!

We wanted to take a shot of TONS of cupcakes, but as you can see here, the Magnolia Bakery just can't keep them around long enough. They sell like hotcakes. . . or cupcakes. :)

So these simple, unassuming cakes look harmless, right? But the bakery puts this really, really addictive stuff inside them. Yeah, yeah; it's called SUGAR and BUTTER.

Obviously, Lexi didn't take this picture. I took it because she wanted a picture of herself next to the green wall. She really likes that green wall.

Back to Lexi's pics. She took this one at the counter. It's my favorite.

This is the last picture at the bakery. These cupcakes had just been frosted.

Thing I'm thankful for: Besides SUGAR and BUTTER? Spending quality time with Mommy at the airport. It was a long trip, but we had fun.

Soooo glad you got both of the Magnolia Bakery cook books. It is like the old fashiond (1949-1969 era) bakeries we had. Quality taste and over frosted with everything tasting heavenly! It is my favorite bakery in the whole world! MOM
