If I Can't Go to NY, I'll Bring NY to Me!
I'm still looking for a job or an internship or something that will make me money. So obviously I'm not in NY like I planned. I'm just holdin' down the fort here in C-town. While I'm doing that, though, I decided I'd practice baking/cake decorating, and maybe I can make some extra cash that way. Maybe.
Anyway, I mentioned on last night's post that I have finally received my Magnolia Bakery cookbook in the mail. So I tried out my first two recipes: chocolate cupcakes and vanilla buttercream frosting. The thing about this pair is that the cake is not very sweet -- it's just chocolate in cake form, which is perfect because it complements the frosting very well. It's pretty much my favorite dessert ever. :)
I think I did a pretty swell job of baking this stuff, too. I mean, I know I need to put more effort into a lot of things. But when I bake, I bake! I really work hard at making my food great, and if it's not great, I get really disappointed. I think with Magnolia's recipes, though, you really can't go wrong.
Anyway, check out the pics. Lily helped me put the sprinkles on. Her eyes were big and bright when she said, "Grandma and Macy will love this surprise. I like surprises. I never did one before."
Is your mouth watering yet? Well, give me an order, pay me, and I'll make some for you. Or maybe if you're my friend and I like you, I'll make some anyway. :)
Thing I'm thankful for: This wonderfully perfect weather today.
