Never Have I Ever . . .

. . . Pierced my ears.

But I think I'm going to.

I was lazily shopping at Target on Saturday night and found myself in the jewelry section, browsing the bracelets and necklaces. I looked up at the earrings a couple of times and wished I could wear them. That's when I thought, "Hey, why don't I have my ears pierced? I think I might get my ears pierced!"

I don't know why I never got them pierced when I was young. My mom allowed my sisters and me to get our ears pierced when we each turned 14. I just didn't care, though. Even when my best friend sister got her ears pierced, I couldn't care less. I wasn't afraid of needles. I wasn't trying to be different and cool. I just didn't care enough about earrings to get them.

Now that I'm 28, I sometimes think about how a nice pair of earrings looks good with an outfit. Or how I wear my hair in a ponytail so much that a good pair of studs would make me look a little more feminine and dressed up.

But. I sort of like that my ears aren't pierced. And I have a big head and a round face, so earrings might not look the best on me. Who knows, really? But I'd like your opinions just the same. Readers, what say ye? Should I get my ears pierced?

Thing I'm thankful for: nice co-workers.

I say go for it! And if you decide not to like it after all, then you have the option of not wearing earrings. Good luck deciding!

I think you should. Worst case scenario: you don't like the way it looks and you can let them close. It's an easy thing to try out...I guess you could be REALLY cautious and try some clip-ons for several weeks to see if you like the way you look with earrings...

Yeah. Do it. You know how I have this complex with my ears? Well, a pair of girlie earrings make me feel better about 'em. Could be the same with your -- what'd you say? -- something about a round noggin.

I'm just sayin' -- girls like me and you that don't wear super girlie clothes can benefit from a little dangle/sparkle/bling.

Si senorita...do it! And then we shall make a date and go shopping for fabulous earrings for your lobes.

I'm :o) when you post. You should do it more often.

I always wanted my ears pierced. I had them done for my 8th birthday. Those days you had to go to a jewler and they only used gold sleepers to piecer your ears. You then had to use a product called Detol and put some of that on a cotton swab and turn your earring twice a day. It was a bit of a chore but I never regretted it.

I had all of my daughters ears pierced when they were young. My eldest was a toddler when she had hers done.

YOu are right I have always thought a nice piece of jewlery just makes an outfit and earrings are a perfect touch.

I don't think you would regret it..but it is such a personal choice only you can really make it.

cheers!

Sara, I don't think you should pierce them! You look great just the way you are. If you get your ears pierced, then you'll have to buy earrings. Think of what you could buy with that money instead, especially if you never end up wearing them anyway!

Forget the ears.

I think you'd look really good with a nice lip piercing. Or better yet, that cartilage between your nostrils.

HOT.

:)

Pierce whatever you like, my love. I'll still think you're pretty.

Sara,

Was searching for my GF's blog with a similar name when I came across your blog. Started reading and found your post asking whether or not to have your ears pierced now.

I had a similar experience with not having them done till I was 24. Looking back, I kept seeing other women with very pretty little gold studs, CZ's and now my favorite, gold hoops. Finally, I decided one day it was time to see how I'd look with pierced ears. I held up some studs to my ears looked in the mirror and liked what I saw! The next day, I was off to Piercing Pagoda to have them pierced with some nice CZ's so everyone who saw me would know that I had finally pierced my ears.

Admittedly, it is a personal decision, but women with pearls in each ear are very feminine and ingenue to say the least. Earrings are the perfect acessory to any outfit your wearing and are the finishing touch.

I'd say if your thinking about it, then your feminine intuition is telling now is the time and I'd go ahead. There are a couple of things to put on the lobe to minimize any discomfort which my nurse friends recommended.

If you're interested, write me an e-mail.
