'Tis the Season . . .

. . . to wear sweaters!

It was chilly this morning, so I wore a sweater! My first sweater of the season! Yay! October is lookin' good. But then, when has it not? October is my favorite month and not just because it's my birthday month!

Also, I had the chance to honor the Fall season with a free flu shot at work! I love getting flu shots; it makes me feel like I'm doing something good for my body or that I'm really doing my part to stop the spread of the flu pandemic this year. Sadly, I don't think it can be stopped; there are too many people who don't believe in vaccines now -- you know who you are! :)

Thing I'm thankful for: crisp Gala apples to eat in the warm afternoon sun.

Um...you are still in Atlanta right? I don't know if "chilly" can describe anywhere in the South. I remember one Oct in Austin when the first two weeks were 105 to 108 degrees. It made me cry.

I love getting 8 hours of sleep a night, taking a vitamin and mineral supplement, exercising, washing my hands regularly so that if/when I get the flu my body can have the tools it needs to fight it off and then *bam*, I get the wild virus strand that will give me immunity for years to come... it makes me feel like I'm doing something good for my body or that I'm really doing my part to stop the spread of the flu pandemic this year... But that's just me ;)

That is theory. Many other folks including CDC are looking at the effectiveness of seasonal flu vaccines.

The lady has some cred: http://chemistry.about.com/bio/Anne-Marie-Helmenstine-Ph-D-7815.htm

Not saying you are wrong and I am not saying I am right. But I am saying that there is plenty to debate and folks who choose not to get the flu vaccine are not ignorant nor anti-medicine/doctors.

I would like to personally thank Edward Jenner for his idea to get your immune system to do what it would do anyway, without having to get sick. Genius! Way to carry on the legacy, Sara.

I love sweaters too! My cool weather wardrobe is so much better than my warm weather wardrobe.
I also got a flu shot for the first time. I don't know much about the vaccines are good/bad debate, but I do know that NOT getting the flu this season is good for my body. :)
By the way, Galas are my favorite apple. I am going to the apple orchards and pumpkin farm next weekend to pick up some fresh stuff, if you want to come. ;)

We will definitely need to support each other while Lisa is all up in Finland.

I mean, we could dye our hairs red. Here at App, I think that would be pretty darn acceptable, although I would look like trash.
