Austen and Einstein at One Table?

As a follow-up to my last post, I feel compelled to answer the age-old question: If you could invite any 5 people (past or present) to a dinner party, who would you invite?

This is who I would invite:
  1. Albert Einstein
  2. Jane Austen
  3. Michelle Kwan
  4. Nathaniel Hawthorne
  5. Norman Rockwell
That's who I've whittled it down to so far, anyway. Who would YOU invite?

Thing I'm thankful for: Working so close to home that I'm able to go home for lunch.

Ooh, I love that!!

I would invite:

1. Virginia Woolf
2. my paternal grandfather
3. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
4. Nelson Mandela
5. Bill Watterson

That's what I think now, anyway. But can we have a monthly dinner like that? ;o)

Me and Jimmy (of the New York Fallons). That's it. Why would I want four other people to tag along? ;o) I think I've worn Forever Fallon out.

Perhaps I would invite:
Albert Einstein, Jane Austin...you know what, I'll just join your party and bring Steinbeck, Da Vinci, and C.S. Lewis (I've heard good things about him).

Scratch that, reverse. I'm inviting:

1. and 2. Charles and Ray Eames (married genius artists/dead).
3. Steven Strogatz (applied mathematician/alive).
4. Oscar Peterson (jazz musician/dead I think, yes I'm sure of it).
5. Frank Lloyd Wright (architect/dead). If he can't make it, Norbert Wiener (coined the term cybernetics as we understand it today/dead).

I could easily nix all this and just say God, but I won't do that.

Norbert Wiener... wow.

For added fun I'll try to keep it to the living... for my first list.

Jimmy Carter
Herbie Hancock
Hayao Miyazaki
James Burke
Gordon B. Hinckley

That could make for some interesting discussion. (I'm really counting on seeing Pres. Hinckley geek out on science and jazz with Burke and Hancock. I believe he and Pres. Carter already know one another, owing to arrangements Pres. Carter made to help the Mormon missionary effort while he was in office.)

And I'll keep the other lists to my lj, rather than inflicting them on all of you here. (Fantasy dinner party's booked out a few months already.)

Yvonne, NO MONTHLY DINNERS! There are rules to these kinds of questions! :) No, since we're imagining, I guess we can do whatever we want . . .

I thought about adding Mozart or Michelangelo. But I like my group. I think they would all get along quite nicely.

Lexi, I love that you actually put whether these people were alive or dead. I laughed so hard. Love you.

Interesting! I think I would invite...

1) Harry Truman
2) Bing Crosby
3) Samuel Clements a.k.a Mark Twain
4) Peter Jennings
5) Don Adams

I wonder if that's an awkward mix...I doubt they would all be friends, but it could make for some interesting conversation. I wanted to put Clara Barton on there too, but alas, I wanted to meet Don Adams a little bit more!

Can I have one-on-one dinners with five different people? I get kind of quiet in group situations, and I don't want anybody to dominate the conversation which is inevitable with 5 -- no, 6 -- brilliant minds at one table. :)

-- The apostle Paul
-- Johnny Cash
-- Voltaire
-- My great-grandpa
-- Karl Marx

I thought I should mention on here that Lexia suggested I call this post "Wanted, Dead or Alive." I would've loved to, if I'd thought of it. But I can't steal her thunder.

Sara,
please, use the google translate...the same way that I use to navegate in your marvelous blog.
In portuguese...
1-Jesus Cristo,
2-Leonardo da Vinci
3-Oscar Niemeyer
4-Martin Luther King
5-The Beatles

Hello Sarah, I must think of motives that would lead me to sit. I love talking, reading, I'm curious, I love history, so let me think:

1) Jesus
2) Leonardo da Vinci
3) Antonie Saint Exupery
4) Sarah Bernadht
5) Queen Elizabeth

I certainly would have some "questions" to Jesus and hope He likes talking to me! rsss

Kisses
