The Gerber baby. Posted by Hello

BABIES!

Most babies born on Tuesday? More boys born than girls? And for those Latter-Day Saint readers out there, it should NOT surprise you that the state with the highest birth rate is... Utah! You can read about these and other birth trends here on MSN. Yes, the CDC has just released their latest report on birth trends in the United States, and it's actually quite an interesting read. Maybe you can cite it at your next dinner party or social function. :)

To the very few of you who check this blog (Blake and Lauren), I'm sorry I haven't kept it up to date. It's paper-writing time for this English student and finals after that, so it'll be a while before I post again. HOWEVER, I have about three future posts in mind; it's mostly a matter of getting some pictures developed. SO, check my blog in about 3 weeks, please. I promise it will be entertaining then.

Johnny Depp in "Chocolat" Posted by Hello

Best Actor of My Generation

I just finished watching "Finding Neverland" with my mommy, and I had to say that Johnny Depp is the best actor of Generation X or Y or whatever it is. My mom agreed. My dad liked the movie, too; he even paid to watch it on a long flight! That's saying a lot. Anyway, although I could do without the movies about drugs, I think Johnny Depp has been and will be in fine form for years to come. I don't have to mention his past works of brilliancy, so I will just list what we have to look forward to -- "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)," "Corpse Bride (2005)," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)," and "Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (2007)." Wow. That's a lot of Johnny Depp. :)

And this leads me to a question: Who do YOU think is the best actor lately? I know only few people read my blog, but a quick answer in the comment box might lead to a very informal and interesting survey. C'mon, just do it. It will be fun! :)

Childhood Associations to Weather

Except for the yellow film of pollen covering everything (for those of you who don't live in Georgia, the pollen is so thick on my windshield each day, that I have to wipe it clean before I drive...), today really reminded me of being a kid. There was this smell in the air or some kind of feeling about the wind that reminded me of walking to school in Oklahoma. It was neat but also sad. It left me wanting to be a kid in the springtime -- making mudpies, swinging on monkey bars, and just running around on nice grass. That last one reminds me of my nieces running around at Piedmont Park. What is it that is so fun about just running? They ran from one point to another and back again and loved it. Hmmm...maybe I should go out and just run. Like Forrest Gump... Nah.

Spring = Time for People to Get Married

For this post, I'm actually using my "blog" as a web log. That is, there will be no fun links...sorry. Today I found myself thinking about marriage. Why? Well, I just came home from my brother's wedding, went to campus today and found out that two friends I know just eloped, and in about a month, another couple I know will be getting married. What is it with weddings in the spring? They all just happen so fast, too. I know, I know; spring means rejuvenation, flowers blooming, insects that you haven't seen in a while coming back, etc. It's really the perfect time to start a life together... But sometimes it makes me feel left out. :) Then I remembered this article I read a while ago, and well, this brings me to a link. (I thought I could avoid it, but I just can't.) It's under the heading, "Campus Life" and is called "Married People." The guy who wrote it is Brigham Barnes (a friend of my sister) and he has a hilariously funny blog, which can be found here. Anyway, just read it.
